So does he run the UIA or not? He does appear to like running Patrick Raymond into the ground.
Reyland now says, " I have zero say in who is accepted into the UIA program and who isn’t. The research is done by an independent group and selection is done by secret vote of a selected group of board members and all I see are the results."
Let's not forget this quote, "The UIA is the largest inventor organization in the world, do you really think we would have become that if we were hurting inventors? I run that organization."
Here's the post..

Mark T. R. • For the record AbNew was a member before I got involved in the UIA and their executive was already n the board. If you want to know how they got on the board and how they became certified, I would ask the previous Executive Director, Patrick Raymond, who without the UIA board knowing was being paid by AbNew.
Large organizations like the UIA depend on people. We try very hard to ensure the best people are in the best jobs but that doesn’t always revel itself until after those appointments have been made.
Our certification program is much stronger than it was back then, and we’ve implemented the checks and balances that will ensure things like this never happen again. It may come as surprise, but as Executive Director I have zero say in who is accepted into the UIA program and who isn’t. The research is done by an independent group and selection is done by secret vote of a selected group of board members and all I see are the results.

In the end it's all just data points.
I would be the first to tell you not to believe everything you read on the internet - just because someone says it does not mean it's true - good or bad.
All you can do is your best to take all those data points and put them together into a picture. There is always going to be risk in anything you purchase - so do what you're doing - asking questions.
From the UIA standpoint I can tell you that Absolutely New, Lambert & Lambert, Invention Home, and Lenfest have all passed the UIA background checks and certification program (including the USPTO review). They have all signed agreements with the UIA to treat inventors with honesty and respect, and to settle any issues in a fair and timely fashion.
Not all companies who apply for the UIA Certification program make it through – in fact, several other service providers have not made it through, and are in the process of cleaning up their act to try again.
I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a step in the right direction to reducing your risk when working with these companies.
