Insider Blows The Whistle on the United Inventors Association & CONMAN Mark Reyland

By Joe Fournier
Friday, June 14,

Around May of 2012, I was an Inventor Member of the UIA, a post had come to my email looking for volunteers for the UIA,  I volunteered and shortly after received a phone call from Mark Reyland, Mark offered various tasks and offered to pay me for those tasks on a per task basis,  I worked for the UIA for almost a year, My first “Official Title” was Volunteer Coordinator, During that time I was still doing the work and research on the Inventors Rights Act of 1999.  Prior to this I had no writing experience that would qualify my to re write any legislative document.
When I first got involved with this I did not know a lot about the UIA, I was simply a Member who had signed up a short time before, and wanted to volunteer to help, from my understanding, the UIA was supposed to be a place where inventors could go to get help from quality and trusted companies, other resources were available, to help inventors become successful.  While I did not know a whole lot about the UIA, Mark Reyland pushed that it’s all about teaching inventors, later more derogatory terms were used, but I will get into the later.

Mark had met with me and I shared with him my invention, in which he thought was great, so did everyone I showed it to, but still do date I have no great success story to tell from any invention, even now why Mark thought I had any qualifications to do any of these Jobs I really do not know, maybe because I showed an interest, looking back, maybe because I would be easy to manipulate.  With the Director, of Corporate Membership services, looking back and seeing the emails, I was really pushed into this job, almost goaded into taking the Job, that I KNEW I was not qualified for.  This is part of an email I received when I was being asked to take the job

“Really….are you scared of this level of job? because if you are I'm going to make fun of you forever :)“

I am an inventor who to date has never brought a product to market, I had no experience in any of the positions I did with the UIA, I had to teach myself just about everything , when I had questions I would email them to mark for clarification, It is my opinion it was my level of interest in inventing or looking back now, an easy victim, I was never asked for any work history, references, or anything like that,  I struggled with the decision to take the offer and had many discussions with my wife about it, I feared I could not do the job as described, Mark finally talked me into taking the position, and I jumped in head first not knowing what I was doing.  I was simply a UIA member trying help  people.  Then is when I learned how the corporate membership programs worked, Patron Membership 500.00 per year with no ROI, a small business platinum Membership 3000.00  per year included 2 emails per year to advertise to the UIA members, and one blog a month, and a Platinum Membership which hekd the same ROI as the Small business platinum Membership5000.00 per year.  In many cases even a large company could sign up for the 3000.00 membership it was said that its better to get 3000.00 from them than nothing at all. So even those “rules” were not enforced.

In a couple cases the UIA allowed companies to “pay to play” for emailing the UIA community, on one such case, Inventions Geneva was charged $500, for a patron membership and paid an additional $500.00 for the UIA to advertise their event. We sent out two emails for Inventions Geneva for the additional $500.

In the second case, Ron Docie signed up for a Patron membership and was allowed to advertise his services to the UIA community.  No other Patron member was afforded this opportunity unless it was where I asked them to send me something for a blog post thanking our patron members.

Certain trades were made with companies to exchange services for sponsorship, Fargo Design, and a radio station both had services trade agreements. Trade a membership from the UIA for their services.

It wasn’t till all this started that I realized that even the telling the corporate sponsors we were emailing at this point almost 14,000 members, the fact of the matter is really this well that’s not quite the truth either, you see almost 14,000 is the member count, but what they don’t tell you when they send out the emails is the some 5000 of those who have opted out of receiving emails from the UIA, and it doesn’t tell you of the 2000 to 3000 errors it gets from people signing up with fake, or improper emails, so how many out of almost 14,000 wind up actually getting an email, if my memory recalls somewhere between 6000 and 7000 that actually receive the email, and then add the bounce backs that came to my email, either the email for that person had changed, required verification, unknown delivery recipient, so the number may be even less than that.

Initially, when I started the membership director position there was NO voting. It was simply a company would want to join, they would pay their dues and they were added to the website and blog pages. After the Jan 2013 (annual) board meeting the process changed.  There are 5 members of the executive committee Mark Reyland (also the executive Director) Trevor Lambert, Ken Bloemer, Warren Tuttle (president), and Bill McHenry. Generally speaking I would do basic research on a company and send it over for a vote; the only NO vote I recall ever getting was from Bill McHenry. McHenry or Warren (I cannot remember which) initiated a conference call to discuss the company. After Bill presented his evidence as to why this company should not be allowed into the UIA, it was sent back out for vote, the votes came in 4 YES and 1 NO (the no was still Bill McHenry). It was a “majority wins” voting system, and once I had 3 YES votes I could send them (the new member) a link to make payment.

I received an email from a previous corporate sponsor who with their permission I will include their story where she says that their references were never even checked, The Company was promised a bunch of things that they never received, and feels taken advantage of as a corporate sponsor. The original letter is also on my blog. http://inventorswelcome.blogspot.com/

Here is the Quoted Email from this previous “Certified Pros’” letter to me , it seems as even when they had the Certified Pro label for what they now call sponsors, nothing was different, they were not doing all the checks they had promised the UIA community they promised they were doing anyway.  Maybe that explains the “so what” attitude, I guess nothing really changed but the name, they were never doing any actual research back then either.

“Dear Joe!

Thank you for your candor! I appreciate your honesty and boldness to step forward and "blow the whistle". I was actually offered your position by Mark Reyland almost a year ago and when I queried him on the outrageous requirements of the job position I never received an answer. I can validate your claim as I paid $5000.00 for a Platinum Membership and was never researched nor were my references called. A fact I found terribly disturbing given the level of "approval" i was supposed to be subjected to. I was promised that I would be invited to be a guest speaker at trade shows, attend VIP dinners where conferences were held and never received an invitation. I was fleeced for $5000.00 and couldn't even access the membership directory after paying. I could go on and on.

If you would like to discuss this with me further or need any fodder to substantiate your claims please feel free to call me!! I was left out to dry by the UIA at the Platinum Level and lost all hope in my invention and company.

I am SO appreciative you stepped out and brought this situation into the light!!

With gratitude,

Identity hidden intentionally.

So I have to wonder now with the UIA, was it ever about the actual Inventor, or was it about the money, I think we all know the answer to that. I cant even count the times I was told that the amount of money coming in didn’t cover the “nut”  I also know several weeks ago I was told directly by Mark Reyland that the UIA account had a over 700.00 negative balance,  that is what he said.

While I didn’t know about any actual perks involved with the tradeshow sponsors. The only thing I found odd, is InventionHome was always a sponsor of trade shows, I don’t know if that is wrong, just thought that they were just hand in hand with the UIA. I do not know what or if they paid for sponsorships, as trade shows were not my department; it just always struck me as odd.

As far as my job with the UIA goes, I was never written up for anything, I was never reprimanded, I was never in any sort of trouble None!  In reviewing emails I see a lot of praises for my hard work. I was terminated when I asked Mark to call me, related to being compensated for work I had completed 2 weeks prior in a text message which turned into a “back and forth” text argument that resulted in “the UIA will no longer require your services.” I was asked to take over inventingquestions@uiausa.org, because I was told by Mark Reyland that Roger Brown Inventor who had been answering the email was forced to quit doing the job, or face consequences greater than a few day suspensions he received from his workplace Edison Nation, and Roger Brown was to write an apology letter to John Young.  SO I took over that Job and was promised 500.00 per month, at the end of April I sent a report of how many questions came in, I submitted the required information at the end of the month.  I expected to be paid, when 2 weeks went by I sent mark a text message that said something like, Hey Bud, sorry for your loss, but when you have time I really need to talk to you about compensation on the inventing question thing.  Mark sent back a nasty message I sent a nasty message, this went back and forth and then I received the UIA will no longer require your services, in a text message

Its interesting reflecting back and now that as I have talked to 2 other people who were offered this position, they were offered a higher pay structure than I was, example being, a full platinum membership costs 5000.00 and commission on the 2 other contracts were 1000 commission, but I was only paid 750.00 for the same thing, I wonder now looking at Mark Reyland told me they were never offered 1000, was Mr Reyland been pocketing 250.00 of each sale I made?  I requested the procedures for hiring and firing and have not gotten a reply.  Also wouldn’t the pay involved in any position be something that would have been voted on by the board? Or does this just another example where Mark Reyland is the board and makes all the decisions on his own?  Why would my pay be different than someone else’s?  I can see where as I had no experience in the beginning, to make a smaller amount, but I had proven my abilities many times over.  I was also told that I would make a base pay of 500.00 per month, when QVC pulled their deal out I was told that I would no longer be getting a base pay,  there were times where I worked all month and if a sale didn’t come in, I spent the entire month and made absolutely NOTHING.

I was accused of hacking into the UIA computer systems, when the fact is I simply logged in with the credentials given to me by Mark. I found it actually refreshing that in Warren’s message to the members he admits to what I had told everyone; they did indeed change the certification to (just) sponsorship, but he did not address why the UIA failed to inform the UIA community of this change.

I truly do not understand; even before all this there are tons of stories of how unethical Mark is and how he is giving the UIA a bad name, to the point I was told directly by Mark, that the negativity around him cost the UIA some $200,000 per year on a 3-year deal with QVC (Martin Bispels) .  And I was told by Mark that Bill McHenry had asked for Mark’s resignation at some point to the board or maybe directly to Warren. Why the President of the organization would allow this I really have no clue.

If I could Make a recommendation to anyone it would be research,  Not just the UIA, but any company, find out who you are dealing with, find out who is in the company research those people as well,  I actually Have a few ideas on how to create an organization better than what the UIA is offering.

The Trap Door's on it's way down with Mark Reyland and his LIES

Today we received an email from Gizmo with info he posted on one of the LinkenIn groups. He felt the  group owner wouldnt published his post and new we would find the info interesting. Oh Boy its interesting thats for sure. He sent us a few teaser emails and phone recordings he talks about below asking us not to publish them at this point. WOW this inventor industry is just plain DIRTY.

Thank you Gizmo for sending us the info.
 PRICELESS.

Mark T. R.
Mark T.

"Bill Nelson" "Steve Cambel" and "Tom Meeks" are all fake LinkedIn profiles started by known Cyber Stalkers John Young and Troy Robison.

Recently Mr. Young was banned from LinkedIn for stalking inventors and harassing people on inventor groups. The UIA was instrumental in obtaining that ban in an effort to keep this kind of behavior out of our industry.

Unfortunately unstable people rarely give up and the result is the rash of fake profiles created since he was banned.

These people are very dangerous, and you should avoid contact with them or any of the growing number of fake profiles they use. If you come across these posting please report them to the group owner and flag them as inappropriate in the posting tool bar.

The world is watching how we as inventors act, and we should all do our part to ensure people like this do not define us.

Gizmo's post on LinkedIn

First off I can tell you I don't have a clue who Steve or Tom are. Until know I haven't had time to post on LinkedIn in a couple weeks due to a project I'm trying to get done. Reyland one thing you know about me is I DONT play games with FAKE profiles. That's your GAME remember how you got caught on Edison Nation as JohnnyGee? You said John was banned from the LinkedIn groups. He was banned because you contacted LinkedIn . Your No different than Bernie Madoff at the end of the day.

Someone really struck a nerve in you and the UIA with the InventionHome Irwin Tool product hunt when it was exposed the product hunt was also FAKE! You also know I have contacts at Irwin I've had ties to for many yrs. Even people that have moved from another company over to them. With that being said you know I made contact with them to see if InventionHome and Irwin had a product hunt together. The answer is no they have NO ties to each other. If something went wrong between IH and any inventor with the search Irwin would have Liability. Do you think there stupid enough to put there company at risk with some invention submission company. That should be easy for anyone to answer.

On one of the other LinkedIn grops you made a really STUPID statement about You,LinkedIn and the UIA have been tracking IP addresses. First off my IP address has only one profile tied to it,second off if LinkedIn is giving you anyone's personal info they would have a ton of Liability and could be sued. Please show us the proof that were tied to any other profile with the same IP address.

You know what I think of you,all smoke and mirrors. You have yet to produce the info to anyone in the groups that your a successful product developer with many patents and products in retail. Truth be told you don't have a single patent or product that are in retail.

I was also sent a video of you speaking at the New England invention club. In the video you say you were a contract inventor for Prym Dritz. Well that's not the case at all is it. You see someone contacted Prym and asked them the question. The answer back was no you weren't and they have NEVER licensed a product from you especially quilting rulers. The quilting rulers you refer to in the video you licensed from an inventor that you have no IP or Licensing rights to anymore. The inventor pulled the agreement from you because of performance issues and Licensed the tech to another company on his own.

In the same New England video you talk about an inventor (Lesia) coming up with a great invention that's making tons of money. The inventions called Trap Door Colander. I agree the idea was brilliant she came up with. But her technology was way out of line for safety, cleansing and manufacturing means. I suggested Lesia go back to the drawing board with the design to reduce the safety, cleaning ect issues. She just couldn't grasp how to do that on her own and knew I had the technology to do it. I verbally told her during the conversations we had and she still didn't get it. She had me talk to her husband on the phone to explain how to add the tech to the colander prototype. He wasn't getting it either so I had to explain it in a way he would understand it using carpentry construction mentality. Seems kind of silly doesn't it that carpentry technology would have anything to do with a colander that has doors that will open. Hmmmm interesting isn't it.

I went on to explain the colander had to have a track similar to a garage door with no springs or torsion bars for lifting closing. Neither one of them could grasp how to add a track to the colander so I asker her husband if he knew what "J" channel was. He said sure and had some aluminum "J" channel but how will the "J" channel work on the colander. I told them both to go out and get vinyl "J" channel because it has more flex than aluminum and will form easily around any colander with a radius shape. I also told them to either rivet or epoxy the "J" channel to the body of the colander then take another colander to cut the sliding doors out the same width between the left and right "J" channels and slip the cut out doors into the track. Hmmmm know you have a trap door colander with NO mechanical springs or lifting parts involved. This tech is pretty much a garage door and track with NO tension cables as aids for lifting/shutting.

With all the info explained above WHO is actually the inventor of the colander with operating doors that open and close with NO mechanical springs? The colander's tech really has to do with self gravity and friction from the radius colander shaped body and how the doors ride in the tracks. Reyland who do you think the inventor is? Lesia had a great "idea" I will give her that but had NO idea how to fine tune the actual mechanicals of her idea. Lesia is the sole inventor of the idea as long as there are NO CLAIMS of the technology I came up with in the patent application she filed. If my tech is in the application without me being listed as co-inventor then we all know what that means don't we. The application can and will be challenged when published. If she elected for the app not be published then it will be challenged if a patent is issues!

I'm really hoping she didn't use my tech in the claims but my guess is she did because the current retail product has my EXACT tech in it. I have all the back up to prove the techs mine from emails and a few recordings I have. The recording with her and her husband will clearly indicate they didn't have a clue on their own how the colander would function without mechanical means.

I truly wish Lesia all the luck in the world with her many ideas that pop in her head. She almost dropped to the floor when I told her the colander concept was a winner after sending me a concept drawing. The drawing looks NOTHING like the product in retail.

Watch the video below. Reyland claims to be a contract inventor for Prym Dritz and licensed products to them in the past. Start the video at 1:42 mins and listen to it. The info about Lesia is at 1:51:30 mins . Part of Reyland's explanation of the stories true, she had a concept with the colander idea. That's all it was an idea with tech that would never make it to retail with her mechanical technology.

If you think my accusations are false Reyland please ask me to show the proof of the colander story and tech. I will be be happy to and have plenty to add to this discussion. It will be an excellent subject to turn this group thread in the right direction to learn the inns' and out of Co-Inventorship and the USPTO Regulations. Like I said in the past I dont make up FAKE profiles or post anything I cant back up with fact.

Update:
After reading Gizmo's claims we decided to research Lesia's Trap Door Colander. Reyland tells the New England Inventor group Lesia's inventions being sold in all Walmart stores making her a bunch of money. The only places we can find it being sold are web stores like Amazon and a few others, nothing in Walmart.

The big question of the day was Gizmo wrong by thinking Lesia's idea was a winner or did the KARMA DOG find her?

We want to thank the New England inventors club for posting the video with more of Reyland's LIES

Tampa Inventor Association Gets The REAL Scoop on COMMAN Mark Reyland

This week Nancy Tedeshi inventor of the SnapitScrew talked at the Tampa inventors Association meeting. After the event she sat and talked to the president of the club. He said she should hook up with Mark Reyland he is all about helping inventors and she said oh yeah, what did he invent and the president replied, he was our guest speaker and he invented  a lot of products but they are TOP SECRET because he worked in the military for 14 years. Nancy went on to explain the set up of the UIA and exposed them and Mark Reyland for what they are. SMOKE & MIRRORS!

Maybe we should all claim top levels of success and then back it up with the words, "but I can't tell you cause it's top secret!"

Were still laughing,,,,Really TOP SECRET Mr Reyland and you spent 14 years in the Military...

Why should anyone believe him ?

We suggest you look at the sites below and do the math just to see how long this NUTCASE was really in the Military.......He's told so many lies is the past it's hard to tell what's the TRUTH.

Were willing to bet he's trying to do his so called VooDoo technique to see how he can back track to change all the FALSE info the he's posted all over the Internet......

Do you know who this is above? It's Mark Reyland of the UIA USA facebook page. He doesn't look the same? Read the link to find out Mark Reyland likes to have MANY alias's.
Susan Bellman and Ted Meyers are other confirmed alias's from   www.theinventorsmentors.com

Would YOU Donate to IP Theives?

The United Inventor's Association blog (AKA Mark Reyland, AKA Johnny Franklin, AKA Johnny Gee AKA too many to list both male and female) asks for donations.
How becoming of an organization to post the picture of a small child and then beg for money  so Mark Reyland, who has been proven time and time again NOT to have any successful products can educate you by travelling around on your dime, managing to escape his dark basement office corner. Donate to him so he can recite some teaching from books, blogs and Internet sites he's read from. The very same things you can find for yourself. We all know he can’t teach from experience.
Raise money for Mark Reyland so you too can have your invention stolen and placed publicly as a UIA (United Inventor's Association) asset! HUH? Wait a minute! The funny part is it STILL has the inventor’s name on it!

    1.     [PDF]

    You +1'd this publicly. Undo

Scroll down on this blog and you can hear from Mark Reyland's own lawyer how Reyland has no rights to it. We also read he has fundageek listed as a UIA asset. Does Fundageek know this or was this planned all along?

Why is the UIA acquiring assets from inventors without the inventors’ knowledge or permission?

Has Mark Reyland turned the UIA into IP thieves?

    We’ll find out.

Until then...would you donate money to IP thieves? Until we see this addressed, EVERY single board member needs to take responsibility for Mark Reyland stealing inventions and listing them as “owned” by the United Inventor’s Association!
He always did have a plan to take down the UIA. Maybe he had plans to take it down from the inside?
The information against Mark Reyland is staggering!

Mark Reyland meets John Cremeans in Tampa

Mark Reyland claims he's known John Cremeans a long time and their friends. Yeah right Mr. Reyland  just met John in Tampa and your now long time friends.......What a joke.

Were wondering if Reyland told John about all his Inventions he brought into the Industry that sells WORLDWIDE? That NO one can locate. Were sure he didn’t because John isn’t a fool. Maybe Reyland was dressed up in one of his made up profiles like JohnnyGee or Mr. Anthony High a Special Opps Officer……Mr High is a BLACK MAN did Reyland ever think he could pull that off? We’ve even seen him with his Sissy Spaceout… opps we mean Spacek outfit on. Yes he has made up FAKE WOMEN profiles on Inventors forums like Edison Nation before so we wouldn’t put it past him. Reyland has even dressed up as his wife on Edison Nation, we seen that happen when he/she went after Gizmo.

Maybe he would of been better off with a Fake Sally Feilds/Sybill profile.

Sorry.. Mr Reyland you can run but you CAN'T HIDE! It’s easy for people to figure you out in ALL YOUR COSTUMES!

Looking back down memory lane we remember Reyland loved to slam Louis Foreman the owner of Edison Nation and the UIA board member. Now the CIRCUS CLOWN claims to be close friends with Foreman and sits in the UIA Executive Directors position.

John Young has exposed a few of the UIA Medallion/Gold Inventor Submission Companies like Invention Home/Jacobs Enterprise that wanted to help bring John's FAKE STICK Invention into the industry for MONEY. InventionHome Co-Founder Mr Russell Williams what were you thinking?

I recently had lunch with a good friend in Florida – his name is John Cremeans. In addition to being one of the most talented on air hosts ever to grace the airwaves, John is a long standing champion of the independent inventor. I’ve known John a long time, and few people in the

We all know Reyland thinks he’s SUPERMAN, it’s too bad the only ones that believe it is Reyland and his Naive Inventors that follow him.

Inventors PLEASE do your Homework on this Conman. Remember Bernie Madoff was a well respected man in the Investor Industry. Bernie ended up in the slammer leaving most of his Investors Friends and Clients holding the empty bag.!

Maybe John Young should send Bernie a sample of his Stick/Hook Invention to pick the cell lock! :)

Better yet if Reyland ends up in the slammer next to Madoff he can pass Bernie one of the Sticks. We bet he's going to tell Bernie he invented the stick or is a co-inventor because he decided on the type of tree/wood/length and diameter of the design! :)

These two will be doing the BOOTY DANCE all the way to the bank with Bernie's financial background. Were betting they will approach the King of Infomercials AJ Khubani/Telebrands to licence the stick.

Let the BOOTY DANCING begin ,,,,,,,_)(_/_)(_l_)(_\_)(__)(_l_)(_/_)(_l_)(_\_)(__)(_l_) SHAKE IT and audition for DANCING WITH THE STARS.

Maybe Inventor Roger Brown UIA Staff Member should do his research also!

FundaGeek & Conman Mark Reyland Gets Questioned By Inventor On LinkedIn

WOW...This crowd funding thing is launching like a rocket. But people need to know how best to use it.

Inventor John Young's Digging in the Rats Nest AGAIN,

    john Young

The other is { The Flip Sided Quilting Rulers }, I contacted the inventor and apparently you DO NOT have the contract on that either, another fraudulent claim . NOT selling in retail. Again in violation of the UIA code of ethics.

Reyland posted this on Edison Nation about a year ago!
UPDATE: Since I wrote this (several months ago) we have licensed the entire line of FlipSide (www.flipsiderulers.com) quilting rulers to a manufacturer in California, and 4 additional quilting products I developed for my quilting friends to the largest quilting products manufacturer in the world (Prym Dritz). The lesson here is that sometimes you have to immerse yourself in the consumer’s world to truly understand what they want.

The REAL lesson here is BEWARE of Mark Reyland. Everything that comes out of his MOUTH is Bull$hit!

We wonder what Inventor Roger Brown thinks of his Buddy Reyland now! Louis Foreman & Matt Spangard from EDISON NATION/ENVENTYS need to take Brown down to the closest river and wash his Dirty Face & Hands off  after playing with Conman Reyland!

The other { Nova eye glass pads } you have listed as patented. A utility patent. but my searching cant find any such patent. Anyway can you get a utility patent on eye glass pad's ? And again they are NOT selling in retail. Here's the link to that :

If there is no patent on the Nova eye glass pad"s, Once more a fraudulent claim, and in violation of the UIA code of ethics.

Now your { Twist Cap"s },where are they selling. No where that I can find in retail, and they have no IP protection as none of your other products do.

Actually only 2 products are yours as far as I know. and NONE are selling in retail as you claim on your biography, yet again a fraudulent claim. And inviolation of UIA code of ethics.

    { In addition to his role with the UIA, Mr. Reyland is an accomplished inventor with {{many retail products on the market }}, and CEO of Obvious Ideas LLC, a Cincinnati based Product Development Company. }

So there's 4 violations of the UIA's code of ethics by the Executive Director
    Mark Reyland.

    UIA Code of Ethics
    # I. Personal and Professional Integrity

All staff, board members, members, and volunteers of the United Inventors Association (UIA) act with honesty, integrity and openness in all their dealings as representatives of the UIA. The UIA promotes a working environment that values respect, fairness and integrity.

    II. Governance

The UIA has an active governing body that is responsible for setting the mission and strategic direction of the UIA and oversight of the finances, operations, and policies of
    the UIA. The governing body:
    # 2 Ensures that its board members have the requisite skills and experience to carry out their duties and that all members understand and fulfill their governance duties acting for the benefit of the UIA and its public purpose;

Is responsible for the electing and regular review of the performance of the president,
Ensures that the president and executive director provide the governing body with timely and comprehensive information so that the governing body can effectively carry
    out its duties
    # 3 Ensures that the UIA conducts all transactions and dealings with integrity and honesty

    # 4 Ensures that the UIA promotes working relationships with the president, executive director, board members, service providers, and members that are based on mutual respect, fairness and openness;

Ensures that the UIA is fair and inclusive in its hiring and promotion policies and
practices for all staff and volunteer positions
    Ensures that policies of the UIA are in writing, clearly articulated and officially adopted;
Ensures that the resources of the UIA are responsibly and prudently managed; and,
Ensures that the UIA has the capacity to carry out its programs effectively.

I was just wondering about this.

Problem is it was wrong to put Mark Reyland in the Provisional patent application to begin with and they both knew it!  We found the following on YouTube:

    United Inventors Association.....TROUBLE

Knives out for US inventor service company CEO

Trouble at t' US invention mill

Inventors and bar-room brawl aficionados could do worse than look in on this discussion forum – at the time of writing, 258 comments and rising fast – where several members of the United States inventor community are busy smashing furniture and filling the air with oaths, accusations, passion, libel, illiteracy and incoherence. The title of the discussion – reproduced here exactly as written – is:

Would You Call DAVIDSON INVENTION SUBMISSION COMPANY..” One Of Your OWN “. And Praise Them For Biulding A Cool Place With Inventor RIP OFF MONEY.

Explanation follows, but the capitals alone give some sense of the pressure about to blow.
The focus of it all is Mark Reyland, CEO of the United Inventors Association of America. He wrote a blog piece praising well-known US inventor services outfit Davison (not Davidson). They, it appears, are not held in high esteem by inventor John Young, who then kicked off the discussion. Hence the title.
But forget Davison. John Young’s main target is Mark Reyland. Why? The precise reason is unclear to say the least, but the direction of travel of John’s loathing is beyond doubt. And it’s evidently shared by other US inventors.
                               Inventors united against United Inventors
We can’t say we’re too surprised at the strength of feeling. Mark Reyland has recent form in the UK thanks to his worthless and time-wasting (non)sponsorship of Simon Brown’s Inventor Forum (see earlier post).

What seems to be happening now is that several US inventors who also have a bone to pick with Reyland are jointly challenging him to justify his claim to be a big wheel in the US inventor services world, and to respond to a number of allegations of sharp practice.

To give Reyland his due, he’s willing to answer back: but in more than one name, never to the point, and in an irrational and provocatively ad hominem manner that merely adds fuel to the fire.
Unfortunately – or fortunately, if it’s entertainment you’re after – several of his adversaries can easily match his inflammatory ramblings and taunts with their own, which makes the ‘discussion’ somewhat difficult to follow. (An honourable exception is inventor and entrepreneur Nancy Tedeschi, who is doing her patient best to get answers from Mark Reyland by asking nicely. With no success whatsoever.)
Inventor services company in name only?
Throwing all legal caution to the winds (when in Rome…), our own take on the shenanigans is this:
First, the United Inventors Association of America may be more smoke and mirrors than reality. Despite its ‘board of directors’ we’d bet that for all practical purposes UIA is Mark Reyland and no one else.

Second, Mark Reyland is a paranoid fantasist who mistakenly thinks he’s very clever in his use of multiple personalities and other forms of fakery to keep his plates spinning.
    Yes, it’s that bad.

One can speculate on how many screws might be loose, but our guess is that for Mr Reyland the priority is seeking attention, not making money. And boy, is he getting a lot of attention right now. That probably makes him a happy, if disturbed, bunny while leaving his more mercurial adversaries raging and frothing impotently. Thus, stalemate rather than checkmate.

Our own ten pennorth of advice was to have UIA tax returns checked for any irregularities. That’s how they got Al Capone, after all. But Capone had assets. We suspect that any serious investigation of UIA will discover that it has no real substance, which might account for the inability so far for critics to deliver a knockout blow.

Other than that, starving the man of attention will probably have more effect than feeding him yet more of the oxygen of publicity that he craves. But as other posters seem unable to get that message, fat chance of a speedy end to all the increasingly futile exchanges. This show will run and run!
Do we have an equivalent situation in the UK? Not that we know of. But when it comes to unanswered questions there is always Nesta, which will be the subject of our next post

Does Conman Reyland Have a Conman Friend?

We have to say these inventors are sharp and know their stuff. It's not about venting, or beating a dead horse. It's about making the inventing industry a little safer for new inventors coming in. Seasoned inventors won't fall for these guys but it's not seasoned inventors we're all worried about. Why expose Reyland and his dirty little friends? Because it's what we all should be doing, looking out for one another and making the statement...not in MY community! Good job guys!

    HUTTON JOVAN PULITZER SCAM { B U S T E D !!!! }

Well I thought something was up. It was funny that someone would suddenly appear saying why they joined the group, instead of just joining. I also found it odd that our new 4 members were Roger Brown { which I'm not saying had anything to do with it } and Hutton from Texas and the other 2 from Texas. Then he post how wonderful he is at inventing. Then he targets my discussions. Well you all have been scammed by Mark Reyland, why Mark. The like on his comment was from Texas, Hutton is from Texas, and Hutton's message was STOP THE PUKE. Clearly to disrupt the BBQ. And as I commented, I knew sooner than later he would provoke me in to a confirmation about it. Add it all up and you know how Tania feels now. Carolyn This is the leader of your UIA, how do you feel now. Brian, Luminita, you were almost scammed by him. Google him under scams with his name and you will see a long list to view. Can I prove it was Mark that put him up to this, NO, but it is more likely than not. Also Troy did some research, I will let him have the honors of telling you what he found. This is why I do this, scams, to protect you and me. I agree that this back and fourth name calling is bull, but its necessary to expose these scams for what they are. Now that this guy got in , Im going to make the group private. I will google everyone from this point on. Come on Mark do you think that I'm that stupid. Admit it, it stings just a little !!!

    J. Jovan Philyaw reinvents himself again
() By Eric Celeste Thursday, Apr 10 2003
A few years ago, we told you about Dallas' own Music Man, J. Jovan Philyaw ("Goodbye Kitty," June 6, 2001), the man behind the CueCat, Net Talk Live!, Tripledge Wipers and other testaments to his con-artistry. Now, Jovan has reinvented himself again--and this time, Buzz must say, he's really outdone himself, in the same entertainingly psycho way that Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf outdoes himself with each new press conference. ("There are no tanks. Oh, those tanks, the ones behind me? We have those tanks surrounded.")

Jovan is no longer Jovan. Now he's J. Hutton Pulitzer. Does Mr. Pulitzer have anything to do with the recently announced Pulitzer Prizes? No. What does Mr. Pulitzer do? Not sure. Read his Web site (www.jhuttonpulitzer.com) and see if you can figure it out. When Dmagazine tried to find out, mean ol' JHP just swore at the mag.

Buzz, however, is confident that there are two things we know for sure about JHP. First, we know that he's selling his crystals. What crystals, you ask? The ones that make up the "Pulitzer Collection" (www.pulitzercollection.com)--a.k.a., a coupla hunks of mineral that used to adorn his offices at Digital Convergence Corp., the company that brought you the CueCat and helped send its primary investor, The Dallas Morning News, into a PR nightmare.

The second thing we know about JHP is why he's selling these objects of "powerful spiritual significance," as he puts it. That's because even though, according to his Web site, the Pulitzer Collection "represents Gods' [sic] devine [double sic] communication of Himself and beauty to humanity," the Lord ain't been so good to Jovan's pocketbook lately. For example, Digital Convergence last year filed for Chapter 7 protection from creditors, meaning DCC's remaining assets could be liquidated to pay the bills.

Apparently shielded from that secular action were these magnificent crystals, which were created when "70 million years ago, God touched the earth," JHP notes. (Odd, since you'd think God would have done so when the earth was created some 4.6 billion years ago, but, hey, Buzz ain't no theologian.) If you would like to purchase the Pulitzer Collection--to channel its incredible huckster power, to ward off gargoyles, to simply use as a paperweight--you can do so on the Web site. Buzz opens the bidding at $37.5 million...oh, wait, that's how much CueCat cost the Morning News. Oh, dear. Now Buzz is confused.

john Young • Where They Are Now
    By: Fast CompanyMarch 1, 2004
Fast Company readers asked us to help track down once-prominent business leaders and innovators who have largely fallen off the business radar. Here's what the Fast Company team discovered about the now-old New Economy luminaries.

    J. Jovan Philyaw

Then: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Digital:Convergence Corp.

Now: What do you do once you've bilked companies such as the Belo Corp., Radio Shack, Young & Rubicam, and Coca-Cola of investments between $10 million and $37.5 million for a product that flops? You change your name. Philyaw, the masterful pitchman between the CueCat, a cutely named handheld barcode scanner that was supposed to bridge print media and the Web, apparently now does business under the name J. Hutton Pulitzer -- or the one-word moniker "Jovan." Operating J. Hutton Pulitzer and Co. out of Dallas, the inventor of what has been decried as "one of the most ridiculed products of the Internet era," now specializes in the "development of unique intellectual property." Such as? Bottled rainwater. Crystals. And a forthcoming book entitled Generational Curses. Will Jovan be foiled again? Only time will tell.

Peter Dunn • Excellent work John I knew that there was something strange about the guy..His photo is creepy and the way he abused you out of the blue really got me thinking. Talk about arriving on the scene beating his chest screaming out listen to me was weird..People like that are just full of themselves or whoever’s ego that he possess at the time

    Troy Robison • John,

I’m not really sure what to say about your findings. All I can say is if you go to freepatentsonline.com and do a patent applications search on (J. Hutton Pulitzer) you will find there are 48 "Published" applications. 46 out of 48 were published in 2006; the other 2 were in 2007.

I looked at all of them then decided to search “patents only” and didn’t find any that were issued. So I decided I need to go check a few of the applications in the USPTO Patent Pair files. After checking out 4 to 5 I decided there was something very wrong because everyone of the applications I looked at indicated the published applications went abandoned due to “Failure to respond to office actions” to the USPTO.

After checking out all 48 applications all of them had been abandoned due to not responding to office actions to the USPTO. What that means John is there are NO patents that were issued to J, Hutton Pulitzer that are tied to the 48 apps.

I also found it strange in the USPTO Pair “File Wrapper” there was files that shown Notification of withdrawal of Attorney (Power of Attorney) was transferred back to J.Hutton Pulitzer with 2 different TEXAS addresses in all the apps. One in Frisco and the other in Addison Texas There were files indicating a change of address also, and then when the USPTO mailed the abandoned letter to Hutton it was returned to the USPTO Undelivered.

Searching Jeffry Jovan Philyaw patents or applications will produce some in his name alone. Some will show David Kent Mathews from Carrollton, TX as co-inventor also. With the Assignee listed as Digital Convergence Corporation in Dallas Texas.

(If) the Hutton person you’re confronting is the same person as the applications I located then yes there is a problem with his identity and claims.

and it looks like Roger Brown is just getting on everyone's nerves as usual with his constant whining and apparent need for attention. We think Derek Pater has it right when he calls Roger at playing decoy to move the attention away from Reyland....

    john Young • Roger,

I have no problem having Gizmo answer it. If you want to start a new discussion fine with me. But this thread is done. Everyone is sick of this crap and so am I. I understand you want him to say it ! But Ive already said his claims are baseless !

What do you want, should we start this crap over again. Lets ask the members ?

Start a discussion and I will stand by my claims for you, or if you really want to take Hutton and Brian's advice let it go! Seems when It comes to Mark you want it over, but not when it comes to Gizmo you want the bitchfest! Perhaps I should change the name of the group to { Inventors for American Entertainment }. Its up to you Gizmo, One last post to show proof about Roger or say you don't have it, then its over. Roger This was about Mark, no one here ever saw anything about you other than my suggesting you have an interest in the UIA. You said publicly NO so my claims are baseless

I really didn't see any claims Gizmo had about you other than that here!

THE VOTE STARTS NOW !!!! We can get in to your claims later, Don't try to delay the vote. EVERYONE PLEASE VOTE,,,,,, NOW I NEED YOUR HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    john

    ------------------------------------------------------

We agree. Other than Troy's insinuation that Roger was looking for a position in the UIA, we have not seen any accusations made by him against Roger. We also insinuated the same thing. Guess Roger Brown really wants everyone to understand he does not want to be part of the UIA. We don't blame him really.
